Sylvie Pialat, wife of filmmaker Maurice Pialat, was the co-screenwriter on several of her husband’s films, significantly “Under the Sun of Satan” (1987 Cannes Palme d’Or winner). When Maurice Pialat died in 2003, after 21 years of living and making movies together, Sylvie Pialat turned towards film production creating Les films du Worso.

In 15 years, Les Films du Worso has built a rich and diversified catalogue composed of more than 20 feature films, TV films and documentaries, many of them presented in competition in major festivals like Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Venice or San Sebastián.

We can highlight the collaboration with French filmmakers like Alain Guiraudie ("Stranger by the lake”, “Staying vertical”), Guillaume Nicloux (“Valley of Love”, “The Nun”) or more recently Xavier Beauvois (“Les Gardiennes”).

In the last years, Les films du Worso has developed a work with international filmmakers like Abderrahmane Sissako (Academy Award nominee “Timbuktu”, and winner of 7 César Awards), Joachim Lafosse ("After love", "Our children”), Corneliu Porumboiu (“The Treasure”), Lisandro Alonso (“Jauja”) or Carlos Vermut (“Quién te cantará”).

In 2014 and 2015 Sylvie Pialat received the Toscan du Plantier Award rewarding the best French producer of the year by the French Academy of Cinema. In 2018 she became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars).
